Csongor István Nagy è professore di diritto e direttore del dipartimento di diritto internazionale privato presso l’Università di Szeged ed è titolare di una cattedra di ricerca presso il Centro di scienze sociali della rete di ricerca Eötvös Loránd. È regolarmente professore ospite presso la Central European University (Budapest/New York/Vienna) e presso l’Università Sapientia della Transilvania (Romania). È membro associato del Centre for Private International Law dell’Università di Aberdeen. È iscritto all’Ordine degli avvocati di Budapest, arbitro presso la Corte arbitrale della Camera di commercio e industria ungherese e membro del panel di conciliatori e arbitri del Centro internazionale per la risoluzione delle controversie relative agli investimenti (ICSID).​

​Csongor si è laureato presso l’Università Eötvös Loránd (ELTE, dr. jur.) a Budapest nel 2003, dove ha anche conseguito il dottorato nel 2009. Durante i suoi studi è stato membro della facoltà di diritto István Bibó e dell’Invisible College. Ha conseguito un master (LL.M., 2004) e un S.J.D. (2010) presso la Central European University (CEU). Ha inoltre proseguito studi post-laurea a Rotterdam, Heidelberg e Ithaca, New York (Cornell University). È stato visiting scholar all’Aia (Asser Institute), a Monaco di Baviera (due volte, Max Planck Institute), a Brno (Masarykova University), alla CEU Business School (Budapest), ad Amburgo (Max Planck Institute), a Edimburgo (University of Edinburgh), a Londra (BIICL), a Riga (Riga Graduate School of Law), a Bloomington, Indiana (Indiana University), a Brisbane, Australia (University of Queensland), a Pechino (China-EU School of Law), a Taipei, Taiwan (National Chengchi University), a Firenze (European University Institute) e a Roma (LUISS); ed è stato senior fellow presso il Centre for International Governance Innovation in Canada e consulente legale Eurojus presso la rappresentanza della Commissione europea in Ungheria.

Conta più di 210 pubblicazioni in inglese, francese, tedesco, ungherese, rumeno e (in traduzione) in croato e spagnolo, che sono state citate, tra gli altri, dalla Corte di giustizia dell’Unione europea e dai tribunali ungheresi.
